Why a blog?

When I decided, several years ago, to return to school to obtain a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science I knew I wanted to be a Youth Librarian.   What I didn't realize was that one recommendation would send me soaring head first into the fascinating world of Teen Services.  About half way through my studies at Wayne State University the Director of the Library I was working at (Salem South Lyon District Library) asked me if I had considered working with the older kids in the Teen Department.  She believed that I connected well with that age group. Hum? I'm going to assume it is because I have no problem being myself...no worries if I make a fool out of myself.

And now, about 4 years after completing my schooling, I have the opportunity to work with this fabulous age group.  A few months ago I took over all aspects of Teen Services at Milford Public Library.  It has been challenging and has kept me very busy.  I plan to use this blog however I see fit.  I can assure you that, no matter what, it will pertain to teen books in some way, shape or form.

At times I will profile a favorite author or talk about a good book I've just read and other times I may simply vent about some aspect of the publishing industry that leaves me wondering how anything gets done.

I welcome all comments, suggestions and questions.  After all, I am the Library Lady (as my Mother refers to me when she is seeking answers to any question she may have).   Farewell for now.
